Genevieve Dimou, LCSW

I am an NYC and Long Island based therapist. I received my Masters of Social Work from New York University, and have since worked in multiple settings including the court system, a medical day program for patients with traumatic brain injuries, community clinics, as well as in private practice settings. Currently, I am practicing as a comprehensive DBT Therapist, a clinical supervisor, and offer individual and family psychotherapy in my own practice.

Throughout my career, I have taken a special interest in working with those suffering from complex trauma + PTSD. Much of my clinical training has been in this area. I have been trained and supervised to use trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and received post-education training on how trauma impacts the brain/body on a chemical and physical level. After years of treating clients in a community setting, I became a DBT therapist (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) through B-Tech. I offer comprehensive DBT in a separate location, though I have incorporated many of the DBT concepts to the clients I work with privately. More recently, I was trained in EMDR through EMDRIA, and have seen tremendous results using this with clients.

I love what I do, and I enjoy helping my clients work towards living their best lives. To help facilitate this, I also work with couples and some families to enhance communication and experience a more peaceful home life.

In addition to my clinical work, I am also certified to provide mindfulness, yoga, and nutrition coaching to foster more balance in what tends to be a very activated life for many of us. For those interested, I enjoy incorporating this coaching into clinical work to generate a more wholesome treatment plan.
